Black/White Unit
PoolRx+ contains a proprietary blend of minerals that continuously and effectively eliminate algae. The specially treated alloy cylinder is packed with PoolRx+ granular formulation. These minerals immediately dissolve out of the cylinder and form a stable residual throughout the pool water. The minerals eliminate the algae while freeing up low levels of chlorine to be more active and productive in the water. During the pool’s filtration process the minerals are rejuvenated every time they return and pass through the cylinder. The granular minerals are lost from algae kill, backwashing, splash out and filter cleaning. The harder the minerals work and the tougher the conditions, the shorter their lifespan. PoolRx+ works synergistically with a constant low level of chlorine. Residential (0.5 – 1.0ppm); Commercial (1.0 – 5.0 ppm)
Active Ingredients:
| Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate: | 86.85% |
| Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate: | 1.51% |
| Silver Nitrate: | 0.40% |
| Other Ingredients: | 11.24% |
| Total: | 100% |
Black/White Booster
The PoolRx+ booster contains the additional granular needed to replace minerals that are lost through back wash, splash out and algae kill. PoolRx+ booster can also be used for larger pools that need additional minerals when initially installing a PoolRx+ pool unit. The booster must be used with your previously purchased PoolRx+ pool unit. The granular does not need to go back into the PoolRx+ pool unit; it just needs to dissolve back into the pool water. The granular generally needs to be replaced every 4-6 months, depending on your swim conditions.

Black/White Unit
All minerals completely dissolve into the water within 3-4 hours. Keep the unit in the pool even after minerals are dissolved. It’s okay to swim as soon as the unit is placed in the water.
Pre-installation
- Test the water for metals like copper or iron. If the levels are above 0.2 ppm.
- Choose the right PoolRx+ product based on the pool or spa total gallons of water;
- Start with a clean filter;
- Set your type of filter correctly (see filter settings);
- Check that pH is between 7.2 and 7.8;
- Check that chlorine level is below 10.0 (ten) ppm.
Installation
Place the unit in the skimmer (if there is good water flow), or pump basket.
Post-installation (maintenance)
Note: PoolRx+ minerals will start eliminating algae once completely dissolved in the water. Minerals completely dissolve in the water.
- Maintain a clean filter at all times to capture the dead algae;
- Maintain a chlorine level of 0.5 ppm to 1.0 (one) ppm with PoolRx+ products;
- If the pool is green or cloudy, we recommend maintaining a chlorine level of 2.0 (two) ppm until it clears;
- Do not shock unless necessary, even if the chlorine level is low;
- Maintain the water pH between 7.2 to 7.8.
No need for other algaecides, speciality chemicals like phosphate removers or sequestration agents. Do not use with bromine or biguanides products.
PoolRx+ has a NSF 50 certification for safety and quality.
Black/White Booster
The booster is added to the skimmer or floater or in the pool, after being diluted in a bucket of water. The booster must not be added into the pool unit. The minerals start dissolving immediately and take 3-4 hours to completely dissolve. It’s okay to swim as soon as the unit is placed in the water.

Black/White Unit
All minerals completely dissolve into the water within 3-4 hours. Replace the unit every 4 to 6 months. The minerals longevity is determined by algae kill, backwash and splash out.
Efficient Filtration
Keep the filter clean to capture dead algae. Keeping the filter clean is critical for the PoolRx+ products to work effciently and help capture the dead algae in the circulation process. This will help reduce the vacuuming and brushing of algae on the pool or spa surface.
Green to Clear
If you are starting with a dirty spa or pool, backwash or clean the filter every few days.
Copper Levels with PoolRx+
It is normal if the copper levels rise with PoolRx+ products. PoolRx+ minerals have a proprietary chelation process that bonds to the metals on a molecular level. This allows higher levels of copper, silver and zinc in the water without staining concerns. This formula and chelation process make PoolRx+ products effective against algae and bacteria while reducing the need for high chlorine levels (0.5 to 1.0 ppm chlorine when the water is clear). Some testing methods may recommend a stain control product or draining the pool. These methods do not consider the chelation process that bonds the PoolRx+ minerals to the metals. Adding stain control products is not necessary.
Chlorine and other Chemicals
PoolRx+ products make chlorine more active. Therefore, only small amounts of chlorine are necessary (0.5 – 1.0 (one) ppm). Do not let the pH go above 7.8, as it would make the chlorine ineffective. If the spa or pool are clear, do not shock the body of water, even if the chlorine levels are low. Do not add other algaecides or phosphate removers.
Not compatible for use with bromine or biguanides products.
Recommended Filter Settings (to optimize mineral flow)
Sand Filter
- Backwash and rinse filter until it’s clean.
- Switch the gear from “Filter” to “Bypass / Re-Circulate”.
- Add the unit in the skimmer or pump basket.
- Let the pool run for a full cycle of 12 hours.
- Place the gear back to “Filter”, after 12 hours of run cycle.
DE Filter
- Clean filter completely.
- Add minimum required amount of DE. Don’t overpack filter, so that minerals don’t get caught in the filter.
- Place the unit in the skimmer.
- Run the pool for 6-12 hours or full run cycle.
Cartridge Filter
- Remove the cartridge from the filter housing and clean it.
- Place the unit in the skimmer or pumpbasket.
- Run the pool for 6-12 hours or full run cycle.
- Place the cartridges back into the filter, after 6-12 hours or full run cycle.
Black/White Booster
The booster must be used with a pool unit cylinder. All minerals completely dissolve into the water within 3-4 hours. The minerals longevity is determined by algae kill, backwash and splash out.

Black/White Unit
It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Clean or backwash your filter before adding PoolRx+ and remove all debris from skimmer and pump basket. Place the PoolRx+ pool unit into Pump Basket or Skimmer. Ideally place in pump basket for increased water flow.
The PoolRx+ pool unit should be added to the pool when the pump has at least 3 to 4 hours left on run cycle. This will ensure the granular completely dissolves out of the unit and through the filter into the pool. Pump should run during the heat of the day. Your pool should turn over its total volume of water at least 1.5 times per day. Generally, this will require 6 to 8 hours of pump runtime depending on gallons of water and pump flow rate.
We recommend starting with a new PoolRx+ DANGER pool unit every year for best results. The rejuvenating cylinder gets calcified and oxidized during the year. The PoolRx+ granular minerals are lost from algae kill, backwashing, splash out and filter cleaning. The harder the minerals work and the tougher the conditions, the shorter their lifespan. Add a PoolRx+ booster when chlorine demand is increasing, there is algae growth or the water looks a little dull, even though the water is balanced and has at least 0.5-1.0 ppm of chlorine. You know it’s time to replace these lost granular with the PoolRx+ booster (Part #332001). For seasonal markets, start with a new PoolRx+ pool unit at the beginning of each swim season.

Black/White Unit and Black/White Booster (20K-60K gal)

keeps the pool clear and sparkling and the chlorine consumption is much lower which saves money!!
Ever since I put this in all I do is make sure my chlorine tabs are loaded. The pool has been crystal clear.
I have been using PoolRX for few years and this stuff works. Saves me so much time and money since I don’t have to add a lot of chemicals to keep algae out.
Perfect water. Saves money on chlorine. I’ve used it for 3 years now and will never change. My water is perfectly clear, no algae at all. I keep a small amount of chlorine in the water, but if I don’t refill it soon enough and the chlorine goes to zero the water stays perfectly clear. Just follow the instructions when opening and its good for the season.
Unbelievable product!!! Pool Rx has cut my maintenance time cleaning the pool to maybe once a week and has made it easy to maintain my water. Other than Pool Rx I use 3″ chlorine tablets all the other chemicals like algicide PH + and – , shock are all things I no longer need. I have cut my chemical costs by more than half and my pool has never looked better!
