The PoolRx+ booster contains the additional granular needed to replace minerals that are lost through back wash, splash out and algae kill. PoolRx+ booster can also be used for larger pools that need additional minerals when initially installing a PoolRx+ pool unit. The booster must be used with your previously purchased PoolRx+ pool unit. The granular does not need to go back into the PoolRx+ pool unit; it just needs to dissolve back into the pool water. The granular generally needs to be replaced every 4-6 months, depending on your swim conditions.
Active Ingredients:
| Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate: | 86.85% |
| Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate: | 1.51% |
| Silver Nitrate: | 0.40% |
| Other Ingredients: | 11.24% |
| Total: | 100% |
The booster is added to the skimmer or floater or in the pool, after being diluted in a bucket of water. The booster must not be added into the pool unit. The minerals start dissolving immediately and take 3-4 hours to completely dissolve. It’s okay to swim as soon as the unit is placed in the water.
Pre-installation
- Test the water for metals like copper or iron. If the levels are above 0.2 ppm.
- Choose the right PoolRx+ product based on the pool or spa total gallons of water;
- Start with a clean filter;
- Set your type of filter correctly, if applicable (see filter settings);
- Check that pH is between 7.2 and 7.8;
- Check that chlorine level is below 10.0 (ten) ppm.
Installation
Place the booster in the skimmer, or floater or in the pool, after being diluted in a bucket of water.
Post-installation (maintenance)
Note: PoolRx+ minerals will start eliminating algae once completely dissolved in the water. Minerals completely dissolve in the water within 3-4 hours.
- Maintain a clean filter at all times to capture the dead algae;
- Maintain a chlorine level of 0.5 ppm to 1.0 (one) ppm with PoolRx+ products;
- If the pool is green or cloudy, we recommend maintaining a chlorine level of 2.0 ppm until it clears;
- Do not shock unless necessary, even if the chlorine level is low;
- Maintain the water pH between 7.2 to 7.8.
No need for other algaecides, speciality chemicals like phosphate removers or sequestration agents. Do not use with bromine or biguanides products.
PoolRx+ has a NSF 50 certification for safety and quality.
The booster must be used with a pool unit cylinder. All minerals completely dissolve into the water within 3-4 hours. The minerals longevity is determined by algae kill, backwash and splash out.
Efficient Filtration
Keep the filter clean to capture dead algae. Keeping the filter clean is critical for the PoolRx+ products to work eciently and help capture the dead algae in the circulation process. This will help reduce the vacuuming and brushing of algae on the pool or spa surface.
Green to Clear
If you are starting with a dirty spa or pool, backwash or clean the filter every few days.
Copper Levels with PoolRx+
It is normal if the copper levels rise with PoolRx+ products. PoolRx+ minerals have a proprietary chelation process that bonds to the metals on a molecular level. This allows higher levels of copper, silver and zinc in the water without staining concerns.
This formula and chelation process makes PoolRx+ products effective against algae and bacteria while reducing the need for high chlorine levels (0.5 to 1.0 ppm chlorine when the water is clear). Some testing methods may recommend a stain control product or draining the pool. These methods don’t consider the chelation process that bonds the PoolRx+ minerals to the metals. mAdding stain control products is not necessary for PoolRx+ products.
Chlorine and other Chemicals
PoolRx+ products make chlorine more active. Therefore, only small amounts of chlorine are necessary (0.5 – 1.0 ppm). Do not let pH to go above 7.8, as it would make the chlorine ineffective. If the spa or pool are clear, do not shock the body of water, even if the chlorine level are low. Do not add other algaecides or phosphate removers.
Not compatible for use with bromine or biguanides products.
Recommended Filter Settings (to optimize mineral flow)
Sand Filter
- Backwash and rinse filter until it’s clean.
- Switch the gear from “Filter” to “Bypass / Re-Circulate”.
- Add the booster in the skimmer.
- Place the gear back to “Filter”, after the booster minerals are dissolved.
DE Filter
- Clean filter completely.
- Mix the booster in a bucket of water and add the new mix to the body of water.
Cartridge Filter
- Remove the cartridge from the filter housing and clean it.
- Place the booster in the skimmer.
- Place the cartridges back into the filter, after tho booster minerals are dissolved.
It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
Clean or backwash your filter before adding PoolRx+ and remove all debris from skimmer and pump basket.
Place the PoolRx+ pool unit into Pump Basket or Skimmer. Ideally place in pump basket for increased water flow. The PoolRx+ pool unit should be added to the pool when the pump has at least 3 to 4 hours left on run cycle. This will ensure the granular completely dissolves out of the unit and through the filter into the pool.
Pump should run during the heat of the day.
Your pool should turn over its total volume of water at least 1.5 times per day. Generally, this will require 6 to 8 hours of pump runtime depending on gallons of water and pump flow rate.
We recommend starting with a new PoolRx+ pool unit every year for best results. The rejuvenating cylinder gets calcified and oxidized during the year.
The PoolRx+ granular minerals are lost from algae kill, backwashing, splash out and filter cleaning. The harder the minerals work and the tougher the conditions, the shorter their lifespan. Add a PoolRx+ booster when chlorine demand is increasing, there is algae growth or the water looks a little dull, even though the water is balanced and has at least 0.5-1.0 ppm of chlorine. You know it’s time to replace these lost granular with the PoolRx+ booster.
For seasonal markets, start with a new PoolRx+ pool unit at the beginning of each swim season. No need for phosphate removers, other algaecides, clarifiers. PoolRx+ pool unit is not compatible for use with bromine or biguanides.
If using Cal-Hypo products, be sure to follow the Cal-Hypo manufacturer’s directions for use.
Before draining a treated pool contact your local sanitary sewer and storm drain authorities and follow their discharge instructions. Do not discharge treated pool or spa water to any location that flows to a gutter, storm drain or natural water body unless discharge is allowed by state and local authorities.

Blue/White Booster (with silver) (7.5K-20K gal)

I try to get everyone to use PoolRx. I no longer mind being the pool boy.
Every pool season it was a constant battle with algae and even with shock, algaecide and clarifiers the water still had a little cloudiness to it. This summer I found PoolRX and although I did have to purchase the booster pack after a few months because of the size of my pool, it has never looked better! Clean, clear and even has that sparkle to it! Customer service was extremely helpful in determining all I needed was the booster and honestly I didn’t purchase the right size to begin with which is probably why I even needed the booster. I don’t usually write reviews but felt like I had to based on how well this product works! Just make sure you get the correct product according to your pool size/gallons! It’s made pool maintenance considerably easier. Thank you PoolRx!
I’ve been using the PoolRX+ Blue/White Booster for my pool and it works great at keeping algae away, especially during hot weather. It’s easy to add to skimmer. Overall, a very effective product for keeping the pool clean and sparkling.
I’m halfway through my second cycle with PoolRX. Light green algae film on my pool wall was a weekly recurring problem that no amount of chlorine or algaecide would fix. Since starting PoolRX it has disappeared completely and I no longer need algaecide and use far less chlorine.
I was losing the battle with keeping my pool chemical’s balanced in the Florida heat. PoolRx has been a lifesaver for me and my wallet. I add a booster about every 3 months, shock periodically and keep a tablet floater in my pool and my pool is perfect. Seriously, thank you PoolRx!
